In cities built on rivers?

Would not it be far more cost effective to just make the bridge twice as wide and open the bridge to traffic as well, instead of having to make an entirely new bridge for traffic?

Where l live, we have all the greenies that always wanna build these things.

They are the same people that say that only buses should be allowed in the CBD, not cars.

These people are more eco-warriors than they are driven by economics. Why do we listen to them? They should not be allowed have their opinion taken seriously.
We have about 6 major bridges and only three of them are open to traffic....

Two are pedestrian only
One is buses and pedestrian only
Plus a seventh which has only rail.

l am all for public transport, around 25% of the people here catch public transport on a daily basis, l take the train everyday, but this is just a joke.

Things should only be done to make money, not solely save the environment. Ca not we save the environment and make money without wasting millions of dollars on a useless bridge that is only used on weekends?

What's the point of having pedestrian only bridges? plus rant on eco-warriors?

its because those commie green types form groups to lobby the government.
the only way to stop the greenys getting their way is to form groups and lobby the government to build roads and bridges.
Also some counter protests might help (protest against the greenys)
