bridge pilings are usually good spots. they offer good ambush points for gamefish and if there is a current, the holes scoured around the bases of them also offer resting places out of the main current.

i have tried fishing the open water under bridges near my house & have not had any luck. we were fishing from a boat & dropping the line into the deepest channel under the water but it was washing my line away. but i hear people say they catch fish there all the time, including the fishing guides, i see many boats there so apparently they r catching fish. i still have a huge learning curve here as we have only lived on the lake for < 2 yrs. I had spent most of my life learning to fly fish for trout, & fishing a lake for bass & crappie is a whole new ball of wax. but i do believe u can catch fish there I just can not tell u how.
